[ He huffs out a laugh at that, giving John an amused look. ]

Okay, but only if you'll be my helper. We can make dinner together. It'll be romantic.

You like romance, huh?

[ glancing over to jason there, he grins a little because... yeah. he knows jason is a bit of a sap. his writing he did for and of him that one time sure showed that. ]

Gonna have it by candlelight too?

[nomorefear]

...Yes. And you know it.

[ A bit of a sap? He's a total fucking sap and John brings it out of him so entirely. It always seems to be ok, though. ]

We've got enough candles now- you could totally put some on the table and I wouldn't say no.

[So yes, absolutely by candlelight. Extra romantic.]

Yeah, we definitely could.

[ smiling, he knocks his shoulder against jason's again, just enjoying the closeness between them right now and how fucking normal this seems to feel. funny, because john is far from normal. ]

So is that yes to a dinner date?

[ Rather than going out somewhere, which feels nice, cause they'll get to spend time with each other at their place together. They can go out other nights, but this'll be special-- yeah, he's a total sap. ]

[ as if he'd say no. and now, his turn with being a sap: ]

[That makes him smile, leaning in to kiss John's cheek. This does feel so normal. Jason's always wondered what normal would feel like. He could definitely get used to this.]

Sap.

[He says as they come up on the grocery store. It's a smaller, local one which John will find Jason prefers. Growing up in Gotham he knows a lot of these places like the back of his hand. He made sure of it, cause life on the streets meant he really had to know the ins and outs, and he made a point of getting to know the established places around here.]

This place is good. I come here a lot. Shit's not overpriced for the yuppy crowd.

[ as they head inside the grocery store, john takes a second or two to look around — get a feel for the place. after all, it's somewhere he's probably going to be stopping in quite a bit since, well, he lives around here now.

reaching out to grab a basket for them, he looks over to jason then, small nod of his head. ]

Well that works for us. [ a beat. ] Or maybe me.

[ Jason takes his time as well. He doesn't come grocery shopping very often. He gets the basics- beer, eggs and cheese. A single guy doesn't need much more than that- but now he's got someone to cook for and that might be nice. He likes the idea of the two of them sitting down for a meal together, no matter what else they might have to do. ]

You callin' me a yuppy?

[fireshow]

I'm callin' you someone who might steal more money than I do.

[ it's said a little lowly — just between them and he huffs a laugh as he shakes his head and looks around the place. ]

They got matches or lighters here?

Heeeey, I run a perfectly legitimate illegal business.

[He says just as lowly, but with a laugh.]

Yeah, this way.

[He starts heading for the aisles, stopping for a moment by the produce.]

Do we need a vegetable?

[fireshow]

I mean... probably.

[ they're important and all that shit. ]

We could do fresh or frozen I guess. Frozen might be like a mix of shit?

[ He'd rather not eat one but he knows they're important so they should probably go for it. ]

I can make a fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and broccoli?

[fireshow]

[ he laughs, looking for the matches or lighters before he looks back to jason for a second. ]

We should get those frozen waffles— eggos? And syrup. That'll be me making you breakast.

I mean, does that sound good? I can make mac and cheese with bacon too... with broccoli...

[He snickers, grabbing some broccoli either way, then leads John toward the lighters and matches.]

Frozen waffles and syrup sounds real good, especially if you make it.

You got a toaster, right?

[ he asks that rather seriously and with a raised brow as he follows, plucking a box of matches off the shelf the second he spots them. ]

Yeah, I've got a toaster. And a microwave.

[He has an amused look on his face, but he's glad John is asking. He wants to have everything John needs.]

If there's anything I don't got that you want, we can get it.

You're gonna spoil me, babe. I'm not used to that.

[ it's said as a means to tease, but. also a truth.

either way, he makes sure to grab a couple lighters along with the matches. always good to have various options on hand after all. ]

I'm gonna spoil the fuck outta you.

[That's the truth too.

Jason was gonna tell John to stock up on the lighters and matches to make sure he has enough, so he's glad when he grabs a few more. He also grabs some garbage bags cause he needs those too.]

What kinda candles do you usually get. Like, are they specific ones?

[fireshow]

Whatever's on hand, really.

[ he shrugs, looking over to jason. ]

As long as I have a flame to manipulate, the source doesn't always matter that much. Why? You gonna surprise me with candles?

I mean yeah, I was thinkin' if I see em around I'd grab you some every now and then.

[He gives a small shrug, smiling over at John.]

Aw, thanks, babe.

[ lips puckered to blow an invisible kiss to jason there, he chuckles then and gestures to the basket with his chin. ]

You need anything else?

[ He laughs a little, then looks down at their basket. ]

Yeah, all the rest of the food.

[He snorts softly, then heads down the aisle again to look at some more things and grab some past before he moves to the frozen food section.]

[ shake of his head, he follows after jason, looking down the aisles here and there at the various items being sold. ]

We gonna need a lot of bags for this stuff?
