[ letting himself be pulled, he nods. ]

[Laughing, he leads them back out, locking up and making sure security is all set up again.]

Remind me to give you all the codes and shit so you can get in and out. And the keys. We should get you keys made while we're out, too.

[ he's just gonna say it, so. ]

[He smirks, leading them down the street toward the closest store that he knows isn't gonna be a fucking arm and a leg. At least in this part of town there's more like that around. It's not the shittiest part of Gotham, where Jason's originally from, but there's nothing fancy about it either.]

Picking locks sure comes in fucking handy, though.

I bet it does.

[ throwing a faint smile over to him, he keeps himself alongside jason as they go, not at all familiar with the area, though that's just for the moment. hands sliding into his jacket pockets, he looks around, a habit he tends to do with being different and all. never mind the having been beat up a few times thing. ]

They don't happen to have no mutants spots around here, do they?

[ because... yeah. that's a thing alright. ]

No... not around here. Gotham is... It's built different, lets just put it that way. You can pretty much do anything and be anyone around here.

[Which sadly adds to the crime, but then what's the alternative? Maybe that's why people like Red Hood and Batman have to be out every night.]

[ a glance over to jason, he keeps going with him — keeps taking a look around every now and then. he feels safe with jason. it's just... again, habit. ]

So what do you wanna get? [ he decides to change the subject. ] We lookin' at a lot of stuff or just to get us through tonight and the morning?

[ Jason always does the same. He surveys an area, makes sure he knows the exits, the ways out. Better to be safe than sorry.]

We can get stuff for a few day. Some stuff for sandwiches, maybe? I can make some pasta thing to last a few days? What do you like?

You mean besides you?

[ knocking his shoulder against jason's, he chuckles some, ducking his head for a moment. ]

I don't know. Maybe some easy shit? Frozen dinners, soups, hot dogs... though I'd prefer your meat in my mouth, but. You know.

Dork.

[Jason says affectionately, laughing as he bumps John right back. After that he slides his arm through the other man's, pulling him closer as they walk.]

I'd prefer my meat in your mouth too, but that can only sustain you for so long. What kinda frozen dinners would you get?

[ he absolutely lets himself be pulled in close. ]

I don't know. What do they got? Macaroni and cheese? Some veggie and chicken thing? Fettucine alfredo?

[ Good, cause he likes walking with John like this. It feels even nicer now, knowing they don't have to part. They're gonna go right back to the same place together and stay there. ]

So basically pasta shit. I can make that stuff from scratch and it'll be cheaper and last longer. I'm not just good at eggs, you know.

Oh, well excuse me.

[ it's said with a soft chuckle, clearly teasing. ]

You're gonna make us dinner tonight then if you think you're such hot shit chef work.

[ He huffs out a laugh at that, giving John an amused look. ]

Okay, but only if you'll be my helper. We can make dinner together. It'll be romantic.

You like romance, huh?

[ glancing over to jason there, he grins a little because... yeah. he knows jason is a bit of a sap. his writing he did for and of him that one time sure showed that. ]

Gonna have it by candlelight too?

...Yes. And you know it.

[ A bit of a sap? He's a total fucking sap and John brings it out of him so entirely. It always seems to be ok, though. ]

We've got enough candles now- you could totally put some on the table and I wouldn't say no.

[So yes, absolutely by candlelight. Extra romantic.]

Yeah, we definitely could.

[ smiling, he knocks his shoulder against jason's again, just enjoying the closeness between them right now and how fucking normal this seems to feel. funny, because john is far from normal. ]

So is that yes to a dinner date?

[ Rather than going out somewhere, which feels nice, cause they'll get to spend time with each other at their place together. They can go out other nights, but this'll be special-- yeah, he's a total sap. ]

It's a yes to a dinner date, babe.

[ as if he'd say no. and now, his turn with being a sap: ]

The first of many.

[That makes him smile, leaning in to kiss John's cheek. This does feel so normal. Jason's always wondered what normal would feel like. He could definitely get used to this.]

Sap.

[He says as they come up on the grocery store. It's a smaller, local one which John will find Jason prefers. Growing up in Gotham he knows a lot of these places like the back of his hand. He made sure of it, cause life on the streets meant he really had to know the ins and outs, and he made a point of getting to know the established places around here.]

This place is good. I come here a lot. Shit's not overpriced for the yuppy crowd.

[ as they head inside the grocery store, john takes a second or two to look around — get a feel for the place. after all, it's somewhere he's probably going to be stopping in quite a bit since, well, he lives around here now.

reaching out to grab a basket for them, he looks over to jason then, small nod of his head. ]

Well that works for us. [ a beat. ] Or maybe me.

[ Jason takes his time as well. He doesn't come grocery shopping very often. He gets the basics- beer, eggs and cheese. A single guy doesn't need much more than that- but now he's got someone to cook for and that might be nice. He likes the idea of the two of them sitting down for a meal together, no matter what else they might have to do. ]
