[He's just relieved he can be here for John in any kind of way... and that he'll get to have him closer.

Shit. Moving in together. That's a big thing.

Once John goes to shower, Jason puts the boxes together and goes over to the bookshelf, carefully starting to pack up the books, looking them over as he does so.]

[ a lot of his shit is gothic literature. things like dracula, wuthering heights, vampire chronicles, edgar allen poe. maybe picks some might not think john would take an interest in, but he does.

when he comes out of the shower, give or take ten-fifteen minutes later, it's with a towel wrapped around his waist and a smaller one draped around his shoulders, barefoot with steam rolling out of the bathroom.

looking around for jason, he also takes a second to give the place another look. ]

Well. Good thing I was never really attached to this place.

[ Jason's never been much of a fiction reader. It's always been manuals and the rare shitty chemistry guide. He doesn't know much about the rest of it, but John's writing has gotten him interested.

When John comes out of the bathroom, Jason stops, looking over at him- he can't help but let his gaze travel across him. ]

How long have you been here?

sorry for the late, busy week, looking forward to tomorrow

[ he likes that he can't help himself, honestly. ]

Couple months maybe? Wasn't really planning on sticking around for much longer anyways.

[ or, you know, at least before he'd get caught and kicked out. ]

Never really been one to stick around in one place for too long.

[ He can never help himself. He loves looking at John. ]

Then I guess this is the right time to move.

[Jason goes back to packing up.]

I've never really stuck around long in any place either. I like where I'm at now, though. It's the first time I've actually turned it into a place of my own. It'll be even better to have you there.

[ there goes jason saying some sweet shit again. it's not that he doesn't like it — it's more he's not used to it being so genuine and someone really meaning it when they say it. he's getting better at it, though. which is why he instead just smiles a little to himself before he licks over his lips, padding his way over to look at a couple books. ]

Such a sap.

Yeah, yeah. Get used to it. I'm gonna be even sappier getting to wake up to you ever day.

[He leans over and kisses John's cheek when he comes over.]

I hope you like it there, though. I know this all happened pretty quick.

[He doesn't want John to regret it and he's a little nervous about that, but he also believes this is the best option.]

[ the kiss gets him to smile a little more even if he tries his best not to show it too much. he's a "bad boy" after all.

jason's gentle "concern", however, gets him to look over with a somewhat thoughtful look on his face. ]

Hey. Not like I'm gonna question it too much. I mean... you and me happened pretty quick, too, but. Not like I'd change it.

[ Yeah, Jason's a bad boy too. But when it comes to John? Nothing can stop Jason from being soft. ]

I guess we did happen pretty quick, yeah....but it doesn't feel that way. I wouldn't change it either. I like where we are. I just wanna make sure you're ok with everything too.

I mean... if I didn't feel the same? Pretty sure I wouldn't take you up on this whole living together thing.

[ which is still... wild. real wild to him. but not bad.

realizing he's there in nothing but a towel really, he smiles to jason before he gives a glance around them. is he going to miss being here? not really. it's just the whole leaving things behind thing again. the difference is... this is for something better. ]

Should probably get changed though. Much as I'm sure you wouldn't care about me being naked for the move.

[ That makes him smile, reaching out to run his fingers along John's face. ]

Okay. That's good. Just wanna make sure we're on the same page.

[That part's important to him too, just as much as John's safety. He lets out a soft laugh, letting his fingers trail down John's body, stopping at the knot of his towel.]

Sounds tempting, but I'd rather everyone out there not get an eyeful of my naked boyfriend either. Go change. I'll keep packing.

[fireshow]

[ laugh on his own lips, he grins to jason, leaning in to steal a quick kiss because he can. ]

Wouldn't want to get you jealous after all. Even if it'd probably be hot.

[ swiping his tongue over his bottom lip, he noses at jason before he pulls back. ]

But yeah. I'll go do that. Shouldn't be long.

Oh you think it would be hot, huh?

[He kisses back, nipping at John's lip a little before nuzzling him and letting go.]

Pack up your clothes while you're at it, hot stuff.

[ john leaves jason with a smile on his lips to go get changed, which. like he said, doesn't take all that long. he pulls on a pair of jeans that are ripped in some spots, a t-shirt that hangs a little loose on him, and a leather jacket he pulls on because, you know, bad boy and all.

he takes a moment to stuff whatever clothes he wants into a duffel bag, chucks a few more candles and matches in as well, then pauses as he looks at his journal there on the bedside table. he takes it, in the end, stuffs it in his bag along with the few pens he has and heads out to meet jason then, fingers carding through his damp locks. ]

Don't really need anything else back there. I mean... you got condoms at your place, right?

[ he's teasing. sort of. ]

[ Jason would make sure John took his journal with him even if he left it behind. That thing is precious.

He mostly finishes packing up the books by the time John comes back out, and he's adding some more candled into another smaller box. ]

Oh, yeah, loaded with condoms for all those people I sleep with.

[He snorts, teasing back. John knows he's his one and only.]

[fireshow]

Better not or I'll have to burn their asses.

[ coming over to jason, he leans against him from behind a bit, letting his head drop to the other's shoulder before he slides himself away, hands shoving into his jacket pockets. ]

You got like... any house rules I need to follow or whatever?

I know you will.

[Jason says with a smile, leaning back against John while he's there against his back.]

House rules... holy shit.

[He has to laugh a little at that, cause rules? Yeah, rules are definitely not his thing.]

Uh. Can't imagine a single fucking thing I'd have a rule about. Maybe... don't switch around the stuff on my evidence board, or wipe off anything from the glass board? No matter what's on there.

[Which might actually be a good rule at the moment, since Jason has a ton of stuff on there about mutants and the Sentinel program right now. He's been doing his research. ]

Now why the hell would I ever do that?

[ though his curiosity will definitely get the best of him when he sees the whole sentinel program and anything about mutants on there, but. he knows it's because jason cares.

lingering there in the place, giving another look around, he looks back over to jason and just... stares at him for a long moment. ]

I love you, you know. [ he says then, offering a bit of a smile as he suddenly seems... sheepish. ] Just... I don't know. Wanted to say it, I guess.

You asked for rules so I tried to think of one!

[He laughs, shaking his head.

He might've thought about covering it all up with John coming over, except- he's not just coming over, he's staying, so he'd rather just have it all out there. He doesn't want any secrets between them, and John's gonna see his work sooner or later.

He places a few more candles into the box, before looking over at John again, a soft smile forming on his face.]

I love you too. It's really nice to hear you say it.

[fireshow]

[ catching that smile there on jason's face, it has john look down then — licking over his lips. ]

I just... I don't know. Never thought I'd say it to someone. You know?

I know. Me neither. Never thought I'd have anything like what I have with you.

[He stops packing, going over to John, wrapping his arms around his neck to pull him in close.]

Never thought I'd be able to feel it as deeply as I do with you. Let alone have anyone ever say it back and feel the same.

[fireshow]

[ letting himself be pulled in, hands come up to rest at jason's waist, holding softly to him before he lets his gaze drop for just a moment. ]

Don't ever break up with me, ok?

[ Jason swallows hard, the sadness those words pulls from him curling around his heart. He rests his head against John's, shaking his head. ]

I won't. You're stuck with me, alright? Never breaking up with you. Never leaving you. Don't break up with me either, ok?

[fireshow]

Not ever planning to.

[ words that he keeps soft as he presses his forehead to jason's and just holds to him. right there. hoping that he can keep the unsaid promise there with them. ]

[ He combs his fingers through the hair at the base of John's neck, shifting closer to hold him as close as he can. He needs this love. He needs to keep it safe. ]

Love you.

[He says again, quietly.]
